A small collection of short stories and journalistic commentaries depicting my simple life and how
I fit in with the modern day universe of our times. And from time to time, a much welcomed relief from facebook.

OK Let's Do This

🚨 PLEASE DO NOT BUY MY NEW BOOK. 🚨

Seriously!

This will be so much easier for everyone concerned if my new book were to quietly disappear into Amazon, sell just seven copies, and I spend the next six months telling people it’s “finding its audience.”

But, unfortunately, I’ve become emotionally attached to the alternative.

I WANT THIS BLOODY THING TO GO VIRAL!!

And not just author viral, either.

Not:

“My post just got 14 likes and one was from someone I went to school with in 1983.”

I mean properly, stupidly, inexplicably viral.

Because that would be particularly appropriate.

You see, my new book is about a sixty-four-year-old bookseller named Localad who spends twenty years writing his masterpiece...

Nobody reads it.

Nobody wants it.

His bookshop is going broke.

Then a Hollywood producer's car breaks down outside.

He walks into the shop.

He discovers the manuscript.

And from that point on, everything goes magnificently to shit.

🎬 Hollywood buys the movie rights.

💥 The quiet bits are needing explosions.

⚔️ Grief needs more revenge.

📊 Art needs demographic testing.

🐈 Even the bloody cats (in their land called Purradise) become negotiable.

And Localad gets to watch the last twenty years of his life's work slowly get transformed into something scary starring an all-in action hero called Brick Holland.

Then something unexpected happens.

People discover the original book.

They read it.

They compare it with the movie.

And eight innocent words begin spreading across the whole internet:

🔥🔥🔥

"THE BOOK’S A LOT BETTER THAN THE MOVIE".

🔥🔥🔥

And Purradise becomes something nobody expected.

A phenomenon.

Which brings us back to this post.

Because I would dearly love the wonderfully ridiculous real-world experience of watching a book about a book unexpectedly going viral...

UNEXPECTEDLY GO VIRAL!

So I really need your help in conducting this completely irresponsible literary experiment.

DON’T JUST LIKE THIS POST.

A Like is lovely, but Facebook and its other social competitors will probably just put it in a small cupboard and instantly forget about it.

So, instead:

👉 SHARE IT.

Share it with readers.

Share it with writers.

Share it with people who love bookshops.

Share it with anyone who has ever watched a film adaptation and shouted:

“WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE TO THE BOOK?”

<<< Please, go hit these pretty coloured buttons on the left and do your thing.

And in the meantime, if Purradise sounds like your sort of beautifully stupid adventure, you can buy it here:

📚 THE BOOK’S A LOT BETTER THAN THE MOVIE.
AVAILABLE NOW ON AMAZON

Then come back and tell me what you thought.

Reviews are enormously appreciated.

Shares are enormously appreciated more.

Wildly disproportionate international literary fame would also be super acceptable.

But mostly...

I just want to see how far we can make this thing travel.

Let’s see if we can make the fiction come true.

🔥 THE BOOK’S A LOT BETTER THAN THE MOVIE. 🔥

(There still isn't a movie by the way.)

Which gives the book an extremely useful head start.
